Barolo Colonnello 2000 Aldo Conterno

Description

A bit murky and oaky/blurry upon decanting, seemingly on its way downhill. Much better an hour or two later, with brighter aromas of raspberry vinegar, cherry coke, tarry wood, dusty earth, dried fruits and dried roses. Medium-bodied with highish acidity (slightly volatile), soft tannins and a medium, leathery, not-so-exciting finish. As several times before with Aldo Conterno’s wines, one would have guessed it was raised in barrique. A fitting food companion to deer fillet and mushroom risotto, nonetheless.
