The 2011 ‘Baffonero’ is a big time 100% Merlot from the Maremma. It displays a dark opaque inky color with layers of fresh black fruits, spices, chocolate, roasted coffee, violets, cedar, licorice and fresh minerals that resonate through the wine. This powerful red possesses amazing depth and concentration but kept beautifully balanced with fresh acidity which pushes the wine into the long finish that gushes with dark berries and spices. There is a long future here, but it will require some time before it reaches maturity. (Best 2017-2029)
